actually, a BOV on this car will make it run rich, hence the unburnt fuel part. So your both right.

BOV has nothing to do with the flames its unburnt fuel that causes the flames the BOV releases pressure from the turbo

you had a blow off …
you had a blow off valve i’m guessing? my old b5 had one and my friends always said it shot flames out of the back, i never saw it of course because i was driving and thought it was just like a little flash of light or something… never knew it looked that bad haha
