In reply to isphius, all you need for hardware are all the bolts and studs, new gaskets for manifold to turbo, turbo to exhaust, oil return line and some crush rings for the coolant lines and oil feed line (suggest replacing the oil feed line while you’re in there, sludge can occur in it). Easy install.. only 4 hours for me to do it. Using GIAC k04 file for software. The first time I launched it all out, it somehow chirped the tires (and it’s quattro). Not too shabby for $700 total.

what hardware mods are needed for the ko4? And what tuning? Is there any other bolt on turbos?

My k03s is burning …
My k03s is burning oil, so it’s time for a new turbo soon. Already have an exhaust and a stg.2 clutch to handle a k04.. so for the money, when your k03 dies, and you already have the essentials to go bt, k04 is a cheap replacement. Kudos for a nice car

Dyno Dynamics. quattro is about 18% drivetrain loss, so it was probably right around 250hp. 300hp just isn’t happening with a K04.

The most you’ll ever see with a K04 and all side mods/aggressive tuning is 300hp at the CRANK. Definitly not to the wheels… hes looking at 220-240 at the wheels
